Announcement of New Board of Directors

Rugby League British Columbia ("RLBC") is a non-profit organization with the mandate to develop, govern, and grow the sport of Rugby League in the province of British Columbia.

The RLBC is led by a Board of Directors is comprised of six directors who serve two year terms. President, Paul Fogerty, and VP Rugby Development, Ben Hickey, have one year remaining in their term. Due to a vacancy in the VP Communication position, four positions were available for re-election. This year, the following Directors were elected:

Secretary: Shaun Driver;

VP Finance: Mark Kempton;

VP Partnerships: Kaila Pickering; and

VP Communication: Sarah Duncan (one-year term).

Paul Fogerty, President of RLBC, said, “RLBC has spent the year with a dedicated focus on the off-the-pitch governance of League in British Columbia as a consequence of Covid-19. We have used the time to focus on structural changes, re-branding, our long term athlete development model, coaching and refereeing programs, and attempting to set ourselves up for the next season. ”

“We have expanded our membership criteria in an effort to be more inclusive of all those in the province that are interested in the game and are excited that we have a full complement of Directors at the Board level with dedication and commitment to continuing to advance the game in the province.”

RLBC continues to work tirelessly to serve its members and working hard to ensure that Rugby League has a place in the province and for growth of the game. The collaboration of the RLBC with its provincial and federal governing bodies remains at the forefront and having a full complement on the Board and a dedicated focus to recruiting more referees, coaches, and administrative assistance it is hopeful that the path has been set for continued growth.
